Course Overview

Hospitalists’ role in the field of perioperative medicine continues to expand in scope and has never been more critical as surgical patients age and comorbidities increase.  Whether practicing in the Surgical Co-Management or Preoperative Clinic setting, hospitalists must develop and maintain proficiency in perioperative medicine in order to expertly manage chronic and acute medical conditions in surgical patients.  To that end, this course will present a comprehensive review of evidence-based standards and practical application of cutting-edge literature in the field.  Learners of all levels will benefit from the experience and have opportunities to explore perioperative program development.

  • Explore key concepts in risk assessment and risk mitigation
